808 State →
808 State come from Manchester, an English electronic group founded by Martin Price, Graham Massey and Gerald Simpson, and named after Roland's TR-808 drum machine. Their debut album Newbuild came out in 1988, and Pacific State charted in the UK in 1989. In 1990 they joined ZTT and released the album 808:90. Their early work fed into the UK acid house scene.
The venue
A club at 60 Dock Road, E16, in the Royal Docks area of east London, running scheduled party seasons rather than nightly opening.
